If Life Was A Musical...

Today i realized, with a little grimace and chuckle, that most of the movies I own and watch, are musicals. I know that wasn't one of my life goals or something, but I wonder how it happened.  Or maybe the better question, is why do I like musicals (or why do musicals like me)? haha!  In a musical, life seems simpler and easier. When trouble comes, you sing. When there is a big decision to make, you sing. When you're in love, you sing.  When you're happy, you sing. When you're mad, you sing.   Sing, sing, sing!!!   They can solve everything by singing!  But, I realize that's not real life. You probably aren't going to walk down the street, bump into your ideal guy, and then burst out in song, declaring undying love for one another.  And the world is not going to suddenly come along side you in a perfect choreographed dance.
As much as I know this, sometimes I do wish a little. Ok, ok, not really for the choreographed dances, cause that would be a little creepy ( some spontaneous background music would be cool though!), but for some of that spark and passion, and that sense of "Dance and sing like no one is watching".  I know that we tend to romanticize the past, but some of that is good, because it motivates us live better.  haha and I don't just mean how nice it would be if guys would still open doors and give up their seats for girls.
So what is it about a musical that captures us? I don't think it's the music or the dancing, it's the spirit of story. The feeling of passion and unity and togetherness. Even if all the characters some from different worlds, they come together to simply sing.  And actually, there is nothing wrong with that. That is what we love. That anyone can be friends, anyone can find happiness in song.
If you know me at all, you know that I am always bursting out into song. It's something that I've learned, to sing like no one is listening. So if you're ever around me when I burst into song, prepare to sing along!!
